Abstract Submission

The Abstract Submission Deadline is midnight BST 1st April 2026

Abstracts are accepted as poster presentations for both or either the UK Semiochemistry Meeting and the 4th UK Symposium on Smell and Taste Disorders

ABSTRACT SUMBISSION NOTES:

  • Abstracts are limited to 250 words.

  • Abstract submissions must include.

    • Name of applicant.

    • Host institute of applicant.

    • Contact e-mail address.

    • Declaration of any Conflict of Interest.

    • All abstracts must state whether it relates to the UKSN Meeting or the UK Symposium on Smell and Taste Disorders or both.

  • Successful applicants will be required to bring an A1 size physical poster to the event.

  • All abstracts to be submitted to uksmellandtastesymposium@gmail.com by the deadline for consideration.

ABSTRACT ELIGIBILITY RULES

  • An individual listed as first author, can only be first on one abstract and must register for the meeting; they can be listed as an author on other abstracts but under another first author. 

  • It is the responsibility of the presenting author and sponsor to ensure that all authors have given their consent to be listed on the submitted version of the abstract. If the presenting author/sponsor is found to be in violation of this rule, they may not be allowed to submit abstracts at future meetings.

  • The work reported in the abstract should be original research. Abstracts should generally not be submitted to the meeting if the work has been previously published in a journal.

  • To facilitate scientific communication, abstracts reporting studies with unidentified drugs, chemical compounds, or materials will not be accepted. All drugs, chemical compounds, and materials should be identified both in the abstract and during the meeting.

  • Submission of an abstract signifies that the research complies with animal welfare and human subject regulations. HRA guidelines can be found here: https://www.hra.nhs.uk/planning-and-improving-research/policies-standards-legislation/

  • The UKSN President and session chairs will evaluate each abstract for scientific merit and compliance with the guidelines described above.

The UKSN President and session chairs enforce these rules. Abstracts that are deemed non-compliant or lacking in scientific merit will be rejected.
